Los Angeles Lakers sharpshooter Danny Green took a savage shot at the Los Angeles Clippers this week. As a three time NBA champion, the 33-year-old has accomplished enough in his career to talk a little trash – and that is precisely what he did.
During an appearance on the “Real Ones” podcast with Raja Bell and Logan Murdock, Green got brutally honest about the Clippers’ collapse versus the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the NBA Playoffs.
“I think the basketball Gods will humble you if you don’t play the game the right way or do the right thing,” he said.
“I mean, a lot of people say speak things into existence, which is cool I like that, you shouldn’t be as cocky or because a lot of times it’s going to go the opposite way, you know. Someway somehow, you know, things ironically it’s gonna turn out the way opposite of you talking [expletive].”
The reason why so many people feel like the Clippers brought the trash talk upon themselves is because of how confident many in the organization were that a title was inevitable after Kawhi Leonard and Paul George joined the team.
You will recall, Patrick Beverley famously told Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry that, “the next five years are mine.”
“You had the last five years,” Beverley reportedly told Curry. “The next five years are mine.”
Curry is said to have laughed and replied, “Aren’t you 31?'”

Green was not the only Laker to revel in the Clippers’ failures.

To the victors go the spoils, and the Lakers walked away with the NBA Championship this year. That means they can talk that talk and the Clippers cannot do anything to stop them.
If the Clippers want to change that – they need to win the title next year. Is that a doable? Absolutely.
But they will need to fix a lot of things that went wrong this past season.
In the meantime, Green probably isn’t the last Lakers player who will talk smack in the foreseeable future.
