Colin Cowherd’s Advice To NBA Players
Colin Cowherd offered up some free advice to NBA players on Wednesday afternoon. That advice? Don’t cancel the remainder of the playoffs.
“Adam Silver has given the players a tremendous platform to voice their social concerns,” he tweeted out.
“He’s been in their corner. On the court. Jerseys. Commercials. Post game. Broadcast commentaries. It’s been a month of strong social commentary. I’m not sure canceling the SEASON is best move.”

Earlier in the day, the Milwaukee Bucks decided to boycott their Game 5 showdown against the Orlando Magic. The move was made in response to the shooting of Jacob Blake by police officers in Kenosha, Wisconsin, this past week.
After the Bucks and Magic boycotted their game, the NBA announced that the other Game 5s scheduled for the same day would be postponed.
Although no official statement has been made, it doesn’t look like Thursday’s games will occur either.

This has prompted many to wonder whether the remainder of the NBA season may get called off as well.
In Cowherd’s estimation, that would ultimately be a mistake.

NBA Players Speak Out
A number of NBA players spoke out on Wednesday regarding what they perceive to be continued injustice at the hands of police officers.

The aforementioned NBA players were not alone. A number of NFL stars also came out to voice their opinions on the matter.

At this point, it is clear that athletes across many sports are united in what they view as a common goal. A goal, mind you, that Colin Kaepernick essentially gave his career to propel into the national conversation four years ago.

NBA Owners Speak Out, Too
Players were not the only ones to speak out on Wednesday. Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss released a statement addressing the players’ decision to boycott their Game 5s.
“I was excited to see us play – and hopefully close out our series – tonight,” she said.
“But I stand behind our players, today and always. After more than 400 years of cruelty, racism and injustice, we all need to work together to say enough is enough.”

The DeVos family, which owns the Magic, released a similar statement.
“Today we stand united with the NBA Office, the National Basketball Players Association, the Milwaukee Bucks and the rest of the league condemning bigotry, racial injustice and the unwarranted use of violence by police against people of color,” it read.
This is a very fluid situation. So far, the league and owners seem to be very supportive of the players’, as noted by Cowherd. Will that support continue if the players opt to miss additional outings? Time will tell.
