Otto Porter Jr. is one of the bigger names available for teams looking to upgrade their roster ahead of the NBA playoffs.
Not just for his on-the-court abilities, mind you, but for also for his infamous crazy partying ways.
Although Porter is technically currently a member of the Utah Jazz, it doesn’t seem as though that will be the case for long.
“Porter Jr. has returned home to evaluate his options for the remainder of the season and will not be with the team,” Tony Jones of The Athletic reported this week.
From the beginning, the expectation was that Porter wouldn’t spend much time with the Jazz. It appears as though that is in fact going to be the case.
At the moment, two teams seem like frontrunners for his services.
The first is the Boston Celtics.
“Elsewhere atop the Eastern Conference, Boston has been weighing various options who could deepen the Celtics’ bench, according to league sources,” Jake Fischer reported earlier this month.
“Boston will likely be limited to adding pieces through its $6.25 million traded-player exception with which the Celtics could bring on a veteran target such as Otto Porter Jr., sources said.”
The Golden State Warriors are the second obvious suitor for Porter’s services.
“Now potentially set to hit free agency, Porter could be a solid fit for Golden State’s final roster spot,” Sports Illustrated noted this week.
“The Warriors recently converted Lester Quinones from a two-way contract to a standard deal, occupying their 14th roster spot, but they still have one remaining.”
Porter signed a $12.3 million contract with the Toronto Raptors in July 2022 following his championship run with the Warriors.

This season he is due $6.3 million. How much of that Porter ultimately walks away with when everything is said and done is up to him.
Over the course of 15 games with the Raptors this year Porter averaged 2.6 points and 1.9 rebounds per outing.
Whether he would be able to do better with either the Celtics or Warriors is the big question.
