NBA Rumors: Chris Paul To The Knicks?

The New York Knicks are an absolute mess right now.

The team is 2-9 on the year through 11 games and already heavily suggesting that they plan to fire second-year head coach David Fizdale.

Just a few months ago the Knicks organization was attempting to sell fans on the summer they just had.

Sure they whiffed on bringing in big name stars like Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, they admitted.

But they had also brought in solid role players that they could built a contending team around, they promised.

Yes, it just so happened that most of the newly signed players were forwards for some inexplicable reason, but that was all part of the plan.

Obviously all of that was nonsense, and it has only taken 11 games for everyone to see that.

The question now is: where does New York go from here?

According to Fadeaway World, there is a chance the Knicks may bring in Paul.

Paul, 34, is currently averaging 11 points, 5.5 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game this year. Those averages are more or less in line with where they were last year with the Houston Rockets – though there is a slight dip in the latter two categories.

He is obviously still capable of being a very good contributor for teams, but is Paul what the Knicks need?

No.

New York is still very far away from being able to compete for a championship, whereas Paul is the sort of player you bring in at this stage of his career to put an almost-championship team over the top.

Should the Knicks trade away some of their forwards for a capable guard or two? Obviously.

Should they trade for Paul and his massive salary?

Absolutely not.
