A young hockey player died in a horrific puck-related accident this past week.
Defenseman Timur Faizutdinov, 19, was a member of Dynamo St. Petersburg’s junior team.
During a playoff showdown between his group and Loko Yaroslavl, Faizutdinov was struck in the head by a puck hit from the neutral zone.
He immediately collapsed and was treated on the ice by the team doctor. Ultimately, he was transported to a hospital.

Unfortunately, after three days of failed efforts to save Faizutdinov, he passed away on Tuesday.
Dynamo St. Petersburg plans to honor Faizutdinov at future events.
