A Barstool Sports personality found himself in hot water this week after making some controversial tweets about professional golfer Tiger Woods.
Late Tuesday morning reports surfaced that Woods had been involved in a violent single-car crash. While details on what led up to the accident were scarce, it was confirmed that Woods needed surgery after the fact.
Although most in the sports community responded to the Woods news somberly and with best wishes in mind, one person did not.
Barstool Sports personality Kevin ‘KFC’ Clancy, who is no stranger to controversy, decided to post some fairly unpopular tweets in response to the news.
They largely speak for themselves:
Needless to say, reactions to KFC’s humor weren’t great.
This is why no one respects Barstool pic.twitter.com/yWSqBnoGiI

Of course it’s from barstool.

The reactions prompted KFC to delete his original tweets and offer this explanation:
It’s not a bit, Peter. The initial tweet was worded exactly like a long running internet hoax that has happened to at least 5 other athletes, so I was skeptical. But obviously it’s real, so hand up, and I of course hope he’s ok https://t.co/EgOltzLI2U

I deleted my tiger tweets, even though I believe in wearing your bad tweets. But I deleted it because it’s upsetting people, so it’s gone.
I got no problem admitting when I got bad tweets/jokes/moments

It was not a joke. It was that I genuinely related this incident to the the 6 other times that there have been identical tweets about athletes breaking both their legs in a car accident. The exact hoax headline ppl have used for yrs was tragically true this time. I got it wrong https://t.co/vteMQb6kcz

Given that Barstool is already reportedly under investigation for a completely separate matter, this bit of bad publicity is the last thing the company needed right now.
Will KFC face any consequences for his decision to tweet when he probably should’ve just put the phone down?
Time will tell.
This is the outfit Michelle Wie wore on the day she got Rudy Giuliani so hot and bothered. https://t.co/CvM3w4iUQT
