Trevor Bauer’s Advice For Fernando Tatis Jr.
Trevor Bauer delivered some words of advice to Fernando Tatis Jr. this week.
On Tuesday morning, a firestorm erupted over a largely unimportant outing between the San Diego Padres and Texas Rangers on Monday night.
What had everybody up in arms?
Well, with his team up by seven, Tatis Jr. stepped up to the plate at the top of the eighth inning and blasted a Grand Slam. The pitch count at the time was 3-0.
Fernando Tatis Jr. smacked a grand slam on a 3-0 count with a big lead, leading to criticism from both managers.

After the game, Rangers manager Chris Woodward suggested that Tatis Jr. had broken an unspoken baseball rule.
“I didn’t like it, personally,” Woodward said. “But, like I said, the norms are being challenged on a daily basis. So just because I don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s not right. I don’t think we liked it as a group.”
Padres manager Jayce Tingler seemed to agree.
“He’s young, a free spirit and focused and all those things,” Tingler said. “That’s the last thing that we’ll ever take away. It’s a learning opportunity, and that’s it. He’ll grow from it.”
Naturally, that set off a debate regarding baseball’s unwritten rules.
Less than 24 hours later, Bauer opted to weigh in on what had transpired.

1) Keep swinging 3-0 if you want to, no matter what the game situation is
2) Keep hitting homers, no matter what the situation is
3) Keep bringing energy and flash to baseball and making it fun

All in all, regardless of any mild criticism he might have received for his act from the two managers involved, Tatis Jr. is a household name as a result of that Grand Slam. Moreover, his team walked away with a 14-4 victory.
Safe to say the 21-year-old is probably waking up and feeling pretty good about himself this morning.
