New York Yankees Star Abruptly Retires
A New York Yankees star abruptly retired on Friday.
This week, three-time All-Star Curtis Granderson announced that he was calling it quits after a 16-year career.
Over the course of his time in Major League Baseball, Granderson played for seven different organizations.
Originally Granderson was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 2002. He played for Detroit for seven years before ultimately being traded to New York.
Granderson experienced a career year in 2011, when recorded 41 home runs and 119 RBIs for the Yankees.

From there he linked up with the New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, Milwaukee Brewers, LA Dodgers and Miami Marlins in various capacities.
“I’m eternally grateful to every team and every city I’ve had the opportunity to call ‘home,’” he wrote in a statement.
“Detroit, New York (both the Bronx and Queens), Los Angeles, Toronto, Milwaukee, Miami, and of course, my hometown of Chicago,” he continued.
“It is these communities that allowed me to take my Grand Kids Foundation to new heights and use my platform for positive change.”
Granderson recorded 344 homers and 937 RBIs on a .249 career average of the course of his time in the MLB.
