Astros Hiring Surprising Candidate For Managerial Vacancy
The Astros are hiring a surprising candidate for their managerial vacancy.
According to MLB.com insider Brian McTaggart, former Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Angels manager Brad Ausmus is a candidate for the role.
The unexpected new candidate is interviewing with the team on Friday.
Over the course of his playing career, Ausmus spent the better part of ten seasons as a member of the Astros. He was also part of the franchise’s NL Title in 2005.

Ausmus has amassed a record of 386-422 and one lone postseason appearance with a Tigers team he was gifted by Jim Leyland.
Houston fired its old skipper A.J. Hinch after the team participated in a massive signal-stealing scandal on his watch.
Although his role in the cheating operation remains unclear, the mere fact that it happened with him at the helm was damning enough for the organization to move in a different direction.
The Astros are expected to name a new manager at some point in the next few weeks.
