Luka Doncic is one of the best players in the NBA today. His skill level is a big reason why the Dallas Mavericks accomplished all they did in 2021-22.
That said – he is also deeply emotional.
Doncic’s outbursts have become commonplace at this point. Everyone, including his coaches, have acknowledged it.
This week, Doncic’s emotions were on display once again – this time after his exchange with a Phoenix Suns fan.

Fan reaction on social media was telling.
“Why does Luka seem like the kid who brings an apple to his teacher then tells on everyone and cries when things don’t go his way?” asked one fan.
“Luka doesn’t even have a clean grill himself,” wrote another.
“That’s a violation,” added a third.
Obviously tensions were high in the Mavericks’ series against the Suns. Players felt it. Fans felt it. Guys were openly insulting each other on the floor. Dirty plays and high-stakes moments made everything very stressful.
But this is becoming a reoccurring theme for Doncic.
It’s forgivable at the moment because he is still just 23 years old. He can grow and mature. That said, the NBA has also shown what happens when petulant cry babies grow up without maturing. It’s ugly.

Hopefully as Doncic gets older he can get his feelings under control. He has a great mom who loves him. He has a fantastic girlfriend that supports him. He’s already a generational talent. Life is good. He should act like it.
Will Doncic learn to keep his emotions in check going forward when confronted by hectic situations?
Time will tell.
