Mark Stoops should go to Florida State, according to ESPN.

Following last Sunday’s abrupt firing of Willie Taggart, many have wondered what direction Florida State would go in for their next head coach.

Does FSU truly believe they are one of the premiere openings in the nation? Or do they think that they will whiff on the big name candidates, and thus set their sights a little lower?

Well, according to Kirk Herbstreit of ESPN, Florida State should go for the middle of the road and attempt to poach Mark Stoops from Kentucky.

“I think the most obvious name to come to the top of my head is Mark Stoops,” Herbstreit said.

“Stoops has done a pretty good job there (Kentucky). Won 10 games last year, which is tough to do in the SEC when you’re in Lexington.

“And so I think he would be an obvious candidate, but there are a lot of other guys that I’m sure will be candidates,” he continued.

“I think after everything they have been through for the last few years, I think they need to find somebody that’s familiar with the state as far as recruiting, somebody that’s familiar with that school and some of the ways that school works and operates.”

Will Florida State ultimately follow Herbstreit’s advice?

Time will tell.
