Lindsey Vonn is one of the most accomplished and recognized U.S. Olympic skiers of all time. She is one of only two females to capture four World Cup overall championships – doing so for three consecutive years between 2008 and 2010 before repeating the feat in 2012.
In addition, Vonn is the only woman to ever win the gold medal in downhill, doing so at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
While sports fans recognize her for many, many accomplishments in winter sports, the general population likely recognizes her more for her infamous relationship with golf legend Tiger Woods. The pair ultimately dated for two years between 2013 and 2015 after meeting at an event in 2012.
This week, Vonn got brutally honest about her relationship with Woods and all it entailed.
“We are friends and, of course, I’m happy that he is back and healthy,” she told Entertainment Tonight.
“I just think, generally, it’s really difficult to date anyone in the public eye, and I’ve always been a really open person,” Vonn continued. “But I think I learned that there’s some things that need to be kept private.
“And as much as I did want to share everything that makes me happy and all the fun times that I had, that’s also just for me and my partner, and I didn’t need to share that. So it’s difficult, obviously, being in this position because everyone wants a scoop and everyone wants to know what I’m doing.”
That said, Vonn reiterated that she was thrilled to see that Woods was doing well after his horrific accident last year.
“And, you know, it was a tough time for him. So I am just happy that he is back with his kids,” Vonn said.
Vonn’s initial reaction to Woods’ crash was the subject of much scrutiny in 2020. Given the strange details surrounding the event and odd investigation information that came out after the fact, her response was pretty understandable.

All in all, whether she is posting provocative photos online or keeping it real on matters important to her – Vonn is always unabashedly herself. That’s what people like so much about her. And it’s unlikely to change any time soon.
