Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James presented Ohio State with a gift ahead of the Buckeyes’ showdown against Alabama for the National Championship on Monday.

One day before the Buckeyes were set to take the field, James delivered a brand new pair of Beats by Dre headphones to every player on the roster.

James’ decision to give the Ohio State players Beats headphones was probably due in no small part to Dr. Dre suffering a brain aneurysm earlier in the week.

Dr. Dre founded Beats along with record company executive Jimmy Iovine, and James was an early investor in the brand.

Last year, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. delivered a special gift of his own to LSU players ahead of their National Title Game match-up versus Clemson.

Why did the onus fall on James to provide the gift to Ohio State this time around? Probably because he’s their most famous and high-profile supporter at this point.

It is something of an accepted fact that, had James gone to college, he would have played basketball for the Buckeyes.

An Akron native, James has always been immensely proud of his Ohio roots. He is also a very vocal supporter of all things Buckeye athletics, so this latest display is hardly a surprise.

Will Justin Fields and Co. be able to make James proud?

An answer should come one way or another at some point in the next 24 hours.
