Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson Announced and Confirmed

Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson has been announced and confirmed by the UFC.

In the lead-up to last Saturday’s big showdown between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz, UFC president Dana White took a minute to look ahead to what 2020 would hold.

According to the Daily Express, White confirmed that Nurmagomedov versus Ferguson is in the words and is expected to happen in “either March or April” of next year.

“Yeah,” he said of the bout.

“Yup. We’re working on that.”

Nurmagomedov’s last title defense came at UFC 242 in September when he beat Dustin Poirier.

Ferguson’s last victory against Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, and it was his 12th consecutive win.

Last week was not the first time White confirmed that the fight between Nurmagomedov and Ferguson would occur.

Last September, White also promised that he would give the fans the lightweight championship bout they had been begging for.

“Tony Ferguson is next line (for Khabib) if he accepts the fight,” White said at the time.

“We’ll see how this thing plays out, when Khabib will fight again, and if Tony wants to fight…and obviously, if for whatever reason Tony can’t take the fight or doesn’t want to fight at that time, then we would figure out what’s next.
