When the Pittsburgh Steelers selected Kenny Pickett in the 2022 NFL Draft it was with the intention of one day giving him the keys to the franchise.
That day came this past weekend.
With Mitch Trubisky struggling against a hapless New York Jets group once again, head coach Mike Tomlin sent in his young rookie.
One person on hand to witness Pickett’s elevation to the Steelers’ starting quarterback slot? His girlfriend and now-fiancée, Amy Paternoster.
Paternoster must have felt something was about to happen in the lead-up to the Jets outing, because she picked a special outfit for the game:
Pickett’s regular season debut proved to be something of a mixed bag. He couldn’t get his team the win and did finish with three picks on the day. That’s the downside.
The upside is that there is a fair case to be made none of those interceptions were his fault. Moreover, he also ran for a couple of scores.
It will be interesting to see what Pickett is ultimately able to do with the keys to the kingdom.
As for Paternoster – this wasn’t the first time in recent weeks she set the internet ablaze. Between her role in the Steelers quarterback drama and her provocative wardrobe choices, it has been one thing after another with her.
And that’s to say nothing of just her general Instagram content. She boasts nearly 30,000 followers on the platform and consistently gets the sort of engagement you’d expect from someone with five times her audience base.

Big picture, it will be fascinating to see how Pickett’s first career start goes. There are certainly easier ways to begin your reign as the face of the franchise than going against the Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
If Pickett can come out of the next two weeks with even a 1-1 mark – it would be a huge moral victory.

And if he does, Pickett and Paternoster will immediately become the hottest power couple in all of Pittsburgh.
What fate awaits Pickett, Paternoster and the Steelers as the season progresses?
