John Elway Takes Shot At Broncos Star After Trading Him To 49ers

John Elway took a surprising shot at a Denver Broncos star after trading him to the San Francisco 49ers.

Elway, the general manager of the Broncos, traded wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders on Tuesday.

In return for Sanders and a fifth-round pick, the Broncos got back a third rounder and a fourth rounder.

The trade made sense for both parties, as it allowed the Niners to shore up a weakness and permitted Denver to continue their rebuilding process.

While the transaction itself was not surprising, Elway’s comments after the fact were.

Elway said that sending Sanders away was for the best because the veteran receiver had “issues.”

“When we looked at it, Emmanuel had issues and we had issues,” he said.

“That is why it was a good time for us to go different directions, for Emmanuel to go in a different direction and for us to go in a different direction.

“With that being said, we were able to get the value that we thought was fair. That is why we decided to make the deal.”

What precisely were the issues on both sides?

Elway did not elaborate.

Needless to say, regardless of how things ultimately ended, Sanders is likely happy with the end result.

Now instead of being thrown hard-to-catch passes from Joe Flacco, he will be a part of an undefeated team spearheaded by one of the league’s most promising young quarterbacks in Jimmy Garoppolo.
