Jeremy Lin made an undeniable impact on the NBA during the eight-year run beginning with his New York Knicks stint and concluding with his Toronto Raptors championship.
Since leaving the league in 2019, Lin has played in China for the Beijing Ducks and Guangzhou Loong Lions, but has continuously expressed a desire to return to the NBA. Thus far, no opportunity to do so has materialized.
This past week Lin surprised fans with something of an unexpected announcement: he has a secret wife that he hadn’t told anyone about.
“The funny thing about becoming famous overnight is no one teaches you how to deal with it,” Lin wrote on social media.
“As grateful as I am for this crazy journey I’ve been on, I always knew that when I got married I’d want to keep my personal life sacred and to myself for as long as I could.
“While still feel strongly about guarding aspects of my personal life, it has also been hard for people to not know about such a major change. After many years of being together, I married my wife in an intimate ceremony and its been the highlight of my life ever since,” he continued.
“Finally sharing this beautiful day from over a couple years ago. I’m grateful to have found someone who loves me for who I am, to embrace my unique life, and to just do life with.”
Lin then shared a photo of the pair getting married.

As strange as it may sound, this isn’t actually a novel occurrence. Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa also revealed he had a secret wife last year. It took some time for her photos to emerge, but they did eventually.
Same thing in Lin’s case.
Over the past few years Lin has become a fun source of basketball anecdotes. He has talked about everything from which NBA coach didn’t believe in Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry to the truth about his run-ins with Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.

All of it has been fascinating.
Now that Lin is being a little more open about things like his secret wife, hopefully that is a signal that fans will just hear more from him in general going forward.
