Tua Tagovailoa is preparing for the most important season of his young NFL career.
Up to this point, the former Alabama standout has been somewhat underwhelming. Some of that has been attributed to his own shortcomings; some has been blamed on ex-head coach Brian Flores’ bizarre hatred of him and poor overall roster construction.
Now, with a new head coach in Mike McDaniel and star No. 1 receiver in Tyreek Hill, Tagovailoa will aim to prove the doubters wrong. In order to do that he needs to focus on football and stay drama free.
Which is why this week’s news that he has a secret wife came as such a surprise.
According to Broward County public court documents, Tagovailoa is married to North Carolina resident Annah Gore.
On Wednesday, Tagovailoa was forced to address the matter.

“I don’t know who ended up leaking it, but he must’ve been waiting outside the courthouse for an entire week,” he said.
“For me, I love to keep my life as private as possible, and that’s what we tried to do with me and my wife. Obviously in this world that’s not how it is. It’s almost kind of disrespectful if you will, but it is what it is.”

The account are private, so that’s as far as you can get without being one of Annah’s approved followers.
It’s easy to see why Tagovailoa would want to keep some aspects of his personal life private, but that’s just not how the NFL works. Information comes out. Photos leak. That’s the nature of the beast.
There’s a reason why racy pictures of Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury’s vacation with his much-younger girlfriend just emerged. Ditto for Sean McVay’s provocative photos with his new wife. And Josh Allen’s wild vacation photos with his special lady.
It can’t be helped.
Big picture, though – there is a clear anecdote here for Tagovailoa. He can help drown out all the outside noise with his on-the-field play.

No one cares about off-the-field dramatics when you’re successful on it.
Will this be the year Tagovailoa takes a major step forward and becomes a premiere NFL quarterback?
