Is A Big Ben Simmons Trade Brewing Between 76ers, Pelicans?

Is A Big Ben Simmons Trade Brewing Between 76ers, Pelicans?

The Philadelphia 76ers want to trade Ben Simmons.

Simmons wants the 76ers to trade him.

And yet, despite both sides clearly hoping for the same end result, a trade has yet to materialize. Part of the problem appears to be the Sixers’ inability to ultimately get the sort of package in return for Simmons that they are looking for.

Enter: the New Orleans Pelicans.

According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, there has been chatter of a deal between Philly and New Orleans.

“I heard the Pelicans discussed trading future first-round picks and pick swaps with the 76ers for Ben Simmons, NBA sources told HoopsHype. Brandon Ingram was not involved in the talks, I’m told, at least as of now. With Zion Williamson’s latest injury setback, it’s unclear how that could move the needle for the Pelicans in their efforts to land Simmons,” he said.

Obviously the Pelicans have issues of their own. Williamson being fat, skinny and fat again being the primary ones of note.

But this thing between Philly and Simmons needs a resolution. Just this past week, new damaging details about Simmons leaked out. None of this is helping his trade value, which is ultimately hurting the Sixers’ end goal as well.

Can the 76ers and Pelicans ultimately get something done and put everyone out of their misery? Time will tell.
