Florida State Takes Weird Shot At Urban Meyer

Florida State took a weird shot at Urban Meyer in recent comments made by the school athletic director.

Earlier this week, a report emerged that if Florida State made a change at head coach, they may consider replacing Willie Taggart with Meyer or Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly.

The move would make sense, obviously.

Taggart has been terrible up to this point at Florida State.

So far this year the Seminoles are 3-4. Over the entirety of his reign, the team is 8-11.

The only thing stopped Florida State from cutting ties with Taggart at this stage is the fact that his deal runs through 2024 and he would be owed a $17 million buyout.

In a recent conversation with the Tallahassee Democrat, Florida State’s AD David Coburn took a weird shot at Meyer and the recent rumor.

“If Coach were hit by a bus tomorrow, we would not target Coach Meyer, period,” Coburn said.

“I say that with all due respect to Coach Meyer, but we would not target Steve Spurrier either.”

For what it is worth, Meyer likely has zero interest in going to Florida State.

The current Fox Sports college football analyst has been linked repeatedly to USC, and he if he ends up taking another coaching job anywhere, it will likely be in Southern California.
