Tua Tagovailoa 2020 NFL Draft Decision Takes A Turn

Tua Tagovailoa’s 2020 NFL Draft decision took a turn this week.

Tagovailoa came into this most recent college football season widely regarded as the best quarterback on the board.

As the year progressed a debate began to take place whether he was better than LSU quarterback Joe Burrow, but everyone agreed that at worst Tagovailoa was second-best.

Unfortunately Tagovailoa suffered a season-ending hip injury during Alabama’s game against Mississippi State.

The injury immediately threw his draft status into serious question.

Now a guy who was a consensus top-five pick was being talked about as possibly dropping out of the first round altogether.

As a result of Tagovailoa’s inevitable slide in the draft, many began to wonder whether he would return to Alabama for one more year.

The positives and negatives of that idea were fairly cut and dry.

If he returned, Tagovailoa could prove that he was back to his old self and re-earn his status as a top draft pick.

Conversely, if he left, Tagovailoa would still likely go in the first round and would guarantee himself a payday that would otherwise be jeopardized if he returned and subsequently got hurt again.

This week, Steve Spurrier was asked his take on what he believes Tagovailoa should do.

His response made a lot of sense.

“I think he’ll definitely be a first rounder — if he chooses to come out,” Spurrier responded.

“I don’t know if it’s really the best for him to do. I think he’s still weighing the pluses and minuses. It wouldn’t surprise me if he stayed another year, but if he comes out, he’ll certainly be ready to go.”

Will Tagovailoa ultimately stay or go? Based on his most recent tweet, it seems like even he has not decided yet.

The Alabama star will likely make his final decision sooner rather than later.

  1. Maybe you guys can accurately make the reporting accurate. It wasn’t against Tennessee, it was against Miss State that he was hurt. Proof reading is an awesome thing or maybe be at least verify before publishing an inaccurate story!
