Spencer Rattler’s Transfer: 3 Legit Suitors Emerge

Lincoln Riley is not the only big name Oklahoma star who is on the move.
After a disastrous 2021 campaign that saw him go from starter and Heisman favorite to benchwarmer, quarterback Spencer Rattler has also opted to ditch the Sooners.
Given the fact that he threw an emotional tantrum shortly after his demotion, the writing has been on the wall regarding Rattler’s exit for some time.
Despite having a rough season, the redshirt sophomore has no shortage of potential suitors.
That said, three stand above the rest – with one clear favorite.
According to Bovada, the three favorites to land Rattler are Arizona State, UCLA and Texas A&M. Ole Miss comes in fourth.
Meanwhile, SportsLine has Arizona State, Florida State and Texas A&M in the top three. Ole Miss comes in fourth for them as well.
Based on this, it seems fair to assume that Arizona State, Texas A&M and Ole Miss are the clear favorites to land Rattler.
And out of that group, the Sun Devils are the obvious frontrunners for a myriad of reasons.
Rattler played his high school ball at Phoenix Pinnacle High, so he definitely has an affinity for the area. Beyond that, based on the question marks surrounding Jayden Daniels, there could be a good opportunity for Rattler at Arizona State to start rebuilding his reputation.
Last season Rattler served as the starter for all 11 of Oklahoma’s games as a redshirt freshman and threw for 3,031 yards, 28 touchdowns and seven picks. Along the way, he was named to the AP’s first-team and the All-Big 12 quarterback.
Unfortunately, he simply couldn’t build on that momentum.

Rattler ended up getting benched during Oklahoma’s rivalry game with Texas this year and found himself on the outside looking in ever since.
In light of all the drama, lies and shadiness surrounding Riley’s departure from Oklahoma – Rattler’s fresh start couldn’t come at a better time.
