The Penn State vs Memphis winner is obvious, says ESPN.
Last weekend Memphis beat Cincinnati to capture the American Athletic Conference Championship. In doing so, the Tigers earned a spot in the New Year’s Six bowl game versus Penn State.
Is that a gift or a curse? That is hard to say.
Penn State came very close to securing a Rose Bowl slot, but unfortunately lost out on it to Wisconsin.
Now James Franklin and the Nittany Lions will look to take their aggression out on Memphis.
ESPN college football analyst Adam Rittenberg recently took a look at this game and determined that it would probably be a lot close than most people anticipate.
He sees Penn State winning, obviously, but only by about nine points.
According to Rittenberg, the final score will be 40 to 31, in the Nittany Lions’ favor.
“Damonte Coxie and Memphis’ big-play passing game will create some problems for Penn State’s secondary, but the Lions have too much on offense with Sean Clifford, KJ Hamler, Journey Brown, Pat Freiermuth and others,” he wrote.
Will Memphis be able to slow down Penn State’s offensive attack? We’ll find out in a few weeks.
The Cotton Bowl will take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
