Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss Are Now Stealing Coaches From Alabama

Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss are now stealing coaches from Alabama.

When Ole Miss hired Kiffin last week, everyone immediately predicted that his re-entry into the SEC would be explosive.

Kiffin has taken little digs at Nick Saban for years now, and them being in the same conference is a recipe for fireworks.

According to Aaron Shuttles of The Athletic, shortly after being hired by Ole Miss Kiffin attempted to poach Alabama strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran.

“In his biggest coup attempt, Kiffin offered Alabama strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran an on-the-field coaching position to try to steal him from Saban,” wrote Shuttles.

Cochran has been a fundamental piece of Alabama’s success over the years. With a salary of nearly $600,000, he is also the fifth highest paid strength coach in college football.

Kiffin previously served three seasons under Saban as an offensive coordinator, so he is well aware of what buttons he need to press to tick off the Crimson Tide brass.

Will Ole Miss ultimately be able to be something more than just a pest that nibbles away at Alabama? We’ll find out soon enough.
