Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan fate is obvious, says ESPN.
Coming out of last weekend’s embarrassing loss to Ohio State, many have wondered if Harbaugh’s days with Michigan are numbered. He has now had five shots at beating the Buckeyes and failed each time.
In response to the criticism, several analysts have come out and offered their takes on whether the Wolverines should stick with Harbaugh or let him go.
During his podcast this week, ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit called idea of firing Harbaugh “ridiculous.”
“The idea of firing him is ridiculous,” he said.
“Who are you going to bring in that has a better feel for what Michigan is about? But I think Jim Harbaugh has to be willing to change who he is.
“I think he tried that with his offense over the last couple of years, bringing in Shea Patterson, trying to get more spread. Trying to kind of catch up with the way everyone is running is running offenses these days,” he continued.
“I don’t know that their offense is the problem. Shea Patterson and those receivers, they’re pretty darn good. I think the issue is clearly the defense.
“Don Brown has done such a good job in most games they’ve played. They’re shutting people down. They get into that Ohio State game, and the Buckeyes have a plan. They’re just one step ahead.”
Will Harbaugh ultimately get to keep his job? We’ll all find out together soon enough.
