Florida State Will Hire James Franklin As New Coach

Florida State will hire James Franklin as their new coach.

Franklin, 47, is currently in the midst of a very solid season at Penn State, but the writing is on the wall.

Between Ohio State’s constant dominance over the Big Ten and the threats annually posed by Wisconsin and Michigan, there is no path to a championship for Franklin with the Nittany Lions.

It would make all the sense in the world for him to jump ship to Florida State.

A week or so ago it was reported that Franklin’s team and Florida State had been in advanced talks about him switching over. Now that we know that the interest is mutual, Franklin to FSU is inevitable.

“We reported today that James Franklin at Penn State is a legitimate candidate, not just on the Florida State side, which we reported last week, but there is mutual interest. There is indeed mutual interest from both parties,” Brendan Sonnone and Chris Nee reported on the On The Bench podcast.

“They’ve had conversations. I want to stop short of saying there was an interview.

“We’ve heard that but I don’t know that there is enough to report it… Both sides are talking, and they’re talking quite a bit. That’s something that seems to be progressing quite a bit.”

Franklin will never be anything more than second or third best in the Big Ten at Penn State, so this move definitely makes sense any which way you want to look at it.
