Urban Meyer offers a surprising reaction to Ohio State vs Penn State.
The biggest college football match-up of the weekend ended up being a lot less close than anyone anticipated it would be.
Despite a lot of hype about how Penn State would finally be the squad to pressure the Ohio State offense, nothing like that ever came even remotely close to coming to fruition on Saturday.
Ohio State jumped out to a quick 21-0 lead in the third quarter. After a few lazy fumbles, Penn State scratched and clawed their way back to make it a 21-17 game.
At that point Ohio State stopped fooling around and ultimately ended up winning 28-17.
After the game, Meyer offered a surprising take on what had transpired.
“I thought (the adversity) was handled great,” Meyer said.
“I know you’re going to have people say that wasn’t a pretty game. That’s utterly ridiculous. That’s two top-10 teams.
“They won the division, arguably the best division in all of college football. Now they’re (preparing) for the showdown against their rival.
“But enjoy the win. I thought they played great. Give that team in the white credit as well.”
Meyer didn’t stop there, though. He also thinks Chase Young should get real Heisman consideration over LSU’s Joe Burrow.
“You think about Wisconsin, you think about this one,” Meyer said.
“I think if he does the same thing next week, he has to go to New York. Has to go if it’s the best player in college.
“That’s Penn State and Wisconsin. If he does it next week, something should happen. … Joe Burrow and Chase Young.”
Who will ultimately win the Heisman?
We’ll find out soon enough.
