Coming into the season expectations were reasonably high for both the Ducks and Badgers.
Oregon was widely regarded as the class of the Pac-12 and a potential candidate for the College Football Playoff.
Wisconsin was viewed as a dark horse challenger for the Big Ten crown, what with Urban Meyer having left Ohio State.
Ultimately, both programs had fine years but neither quite met the hopes everyone had for them.
Oregon lost once to open the season against Auburn and then again midway through to Arizona State. That effectively ended the Ducks’ hopes of competing for a National Title.
Wisconsin started the year off strong, but eventually ended up losing to Illinois and Ohio State in back to back weeks. Then the Badgers fell again to the Buckeyes in the Big Ten Championship Game.
For their troubles this year, Oregon and Wisconsin received bids to the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day.
It is a rematch eight years in the making.
A computer model recently analyzed the coming game and determined which team would ultimately emerge victorious.
According to the model, Wisconsin has a 66.1 percent chance of winning the game. Furthermore, the model note that the Badgers will likely win the game by 8.3 points.
Will the computer model’s faith in Wisconsin be rewarded? Or will Oregon be able to shock the world? We’ll find out for sure come New Year’s Day.
