Colin Kaepernick’s Girlfriend Makes Surprising Decision
Colin Kaepernick’s girlfriend made a surprising decision recently.
Last week, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell made it clear once and for all that the league was done with Kaepernick.
During a press conference in Texas, Goodell was asked about Kaepernick’s November workout and how everything unfolded.
The NFL originally arranged for Kaepernick to work out in front of 20+ teams at the Atlanta Falcons’ stadium. After a disagreement regarding liability waivers, Kaepernick instead opted to have the workout 60 miles in the other direction.
After the fact, some questioned the league’s sincerity in wanting to give Kaepernick another chance, and his sincerity as it pertained to wanting to play in the pros again.
“This was about creating an opportunity,” Goodell said of the situation.
“We created that opportunity. It was a unique opportunity, a credible opportunity and he chose not to take it. I understand that. And we’ve moved on here.”
Kaepernick’s girlfriend, Nessa Diab, did not take kindly to Goodell’s comments.
She and Kaepernick have been together since 2016, and she is obviously very protective of him.
“@nflcommish soooo YOU & OTHERS worked w multiple teams AND the front office to put sneaky verbiage in the waiver you wanted @Kaepernick7 to sign & wouldn’t allow the workout to be transparent & you call it ‘credible’? Hope you keep your story straight,” she tweeted out.
Diab’s point essentially was that the waiver the NFL wanted Kaepernick to sign was not on the up and up.
Later on, she would make the same point once again.
“Let me say it again. @nflcommish soooo YOU & OTHERS worked w multiple teams AND the front office to put sneaky verbiage in the waiver you wanted @Kaepernick7 to sign & wouldn’t allow the workout to be transparent & you call it ‘credible’? Hope you keep your story straight,” she tweeted again.”
Diab did not stop there, though.
“See the factual waiver details. Again, here are important facts that @nflcommish + league+others &their media shields are NOT willing to address truthfully. This was NOT a ‘credible opportunity,’” she tweeted once again.
Diab continued to go hard at the NFL and the commissioner on Twitter for nearly a week.
On the fifth day, Diab tweeted out an accusation that Goodell was “caving to Trump,” who has previously been a strong critic of Kaepernick’s.
Diab has been a strong supporter of Kaepernick’s decision to protest ever since the pair first started dating.
In 2017 the Baltimore Ravens were briefly linked to Kaepernick. There were rumors that Diab’s insulting tweets towards owner Steve Bisciotti and legend Ray Lewis kept them from signing Kaepernick.
Since then, no team has shown any real interest in bringing Kaepernick on board. There was hope that the November workout would change that, but obviously it did not.
Given how many teams needed quarterbacks this year, it is telling that nobody bothered calling Kaepernick.
While obviously anything is possible as far as a return goes, if he did not garner any interest in 2019, it is hard to envision a scenario where Kaepernick ever plays in the NFL again.
