Baker Mayfield’s run with the Los Angeles Rams got off to a hot start.
The former Heisman winner led his new squad to an extremely impressive come-from-behind victory over the hapless Las Vegas Raiders. Some called it the most impressive feat of his NFL career.
Unfortunately, both he and the Rams came back down to earth one week later against the Green Bay Packers. Not only was Baker bad on the day, but his team was never even in contention to win. Aaron Rodgers and Co. looked way better against them than they actually are this year.
How did Baker ultimately drown his sorrows after last week’s disappointment? With a special date night between him and his wife, Emily.

There is a case to be made that Emily has garnered more positive press this year than her husband has. While Baker has struggled on not one, but two separate teams this season – his wife has been in the headlines nonstop.
Between her wild outfits at his games, memorable reaction to the Carolina Panthers dumping him and provocative Halloween costume, she has been a star in her own right.
In addition to all that, Emily also boasts a very active Instagram where she fairly routinely goes viral for her various posts:

It will be interesting to see where Baker and Emily go from here. The hope, obviously, was that he would show something in his run with the Rams that would keep the family in Los Angeles long-term.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like that is going to happen.
During a recent podcast appearance, Matthew Stafford pushed back on the idea that he will retire after this season. That means, if he gets healthy, the Rams have their quarterback. And Baker hasn’t played well enough to take that job from him.

That means in 2023 Baker will be relegated to backup status somewhere else.
Where will that somewhere ultimately be?
An answer will emerge sometime next summer.
