Carolina Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield came into the 2022-23 NFL season with the intention of being a starter.
This week, his team confirmed that it would continue to utilize P.J. Walker in that role over him.
But that wasn’t the last indignity Mayfield would ultimately suffer.
On Thursday, a video of one of Mayfield’s throws at practice began circulating around the web. It was not flattering:

Because a lot of fans aren’t particularly fond of Mayfield and all the baggage that accompanies him, they were quick to react to the clip.

It’s hard to fault Panthers fans for being salty about Mayfield. He arrived in town with big promises. With him as a starter, though – the team went 1-4. And frankly, if not for a clutch field goal, they would be 0-5.
In the process he completed just 54.9 percent of his passes (career-low) and threw as many touchdowns as interceptions.
If not for his wife’s wild outfit choices, there would be zero positive coverage about Mayfield this year.

Barring something insane happening, Walker will likely continue to lead Carolina’s offense going forward.
What does that mean for Mayfield long-term?
Time will tell.
