Washington Redskins Reject Jameis Winston

The Washington Redskins rejected Jameis Winston recently. They became the latest team to express zero interest in signing him.

With Tom Brady officially set to become the new starting quarterback in Tampa Bay next year, Winston needs a new home. Thus far, no clear suitor for his services has emerged.

There was a bit of hype over the past week about the 26-year-old landing in Washington, but that does not appear to be in the cards either.

After being the top overall selection in the 2015 NFL Draft, Winston played in Tampa Bay for a four-year stretch from 2015 to 2019. In his final season with the Buccaneers, the former Florida State product threw 30 picks.

The Redskins quarterback situation is currently questionable. Dwayne Haskins is unproven and Alex Smith is still recovering. While Winston would, in theory at least, be better than both – Washington does not appear to be interested in the prospect.

According to NFL insider John Keim, there is “no chance” of the Redskins offering Winston any sort of deal.

With that in mind, it will be interesting to see where Winston ultimately ends up. The Las Vegas Raiders, Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans were two teams with questionable quarterback situations, but both addressed them over the past week.

Similarly, the Miami Dolphins and LA Chargers figure to address their needs in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Where does that leave Winston? Time will tell.
