USC’s Caleb Williams Dropping Out Of Top Spot On NFL Draft Boards

USC’s Caleb Williams Dropping Out Of Top Spot On NFL Draft Boards

At one point in time USC’s Caleb Williams was viewed as the guaranteed top overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Over the past week and change, however – things have begun to shift.

Last week, a report surfaced suggesting that Williams was beginning to drop on 2024 NFL Draft Boards.

This week that drop seemed to continue. And not because of the sorority girls that exposed his bizarre feet thing a while back.

Rather, it is because of a mix of Williams being a prima donna in his demands of NFL teams and folks around the league warming up to how good of a player LSU’s Jayden Daniels is.

In a recent report, NFL Draft insider Todd McShay confirmed that Daniels is right there with Williams in many people’s estimations regarding the best quarterback in this draft class.

“I believe Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels are 1a and 1b in this year’s QB class,” he wrote.

Again, it is worth remembering that as recently as a few months ago Williams was the consensus top pick in the draft. There was no debate. He was also supposed to be a lock to win a Heisman and guide USC into the College Football Playoff.

Unfortunately, Williams has never quite been able to back up the hype.

Daniels, meanwhile, who actually won the Heisman this year, has made a career of proving critics wrong. He led a pretty unimpressive LSU team to a 10-win campaign this season while passing for 3,812 yards and 40 touchdowns. Along the way, he recorded just four picks. He also ran for 1,134 yards on the ground and 10 scores.

Last week, ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky proclaimed that he believes Daniels will end up a better pro than Williams.

“Jayden Daniels should be the guy. If I were the Chicago Bears right now, I would take Jayden Daniels out of LSU… Candidly, I think when it comes to which guy has the best game, none of these guys compare to Jayden Daniels against Florida,” Orlovsky added.

“Caleb Williams is fantastic, I just think Jayden Daniels is better.”

Things can obviously change over the next few weeks, but Daniels is definitely making a run for that first overall pick spot.

Will the Bears ultimately take Daniels when everything is said and done? Time will tell.
