Jon Jones DWI And Gun Arrest Details Emerge
The details of Jon Jones’ DWI and gun charge arrest have emerged. They are not pretty.
Early Thursday morning, the UFC Light Heavyweight champ was arrested for alleged aggravated DWI and negligent use of a firearm.
Jones was also charged with possession of an open container and not having proof of insurance. He was ultimately released from custody shortly after his apprehension.
An Albuquerque officer reportedly responded to a gunshot at some point close to 1:00 am Thursday morning. He subsequently saw a black Jeep with a man in the driver’s seat and another person outside the vehicle.
The person in the driver’s seat was said to be Jones.
The officer in question then reportedly saw an open container of alcohol behind the passenger’s eat. Jones denied knowing where the gunshot came from.
A gun was later found under the driver’s seat of the Jeep.
“As part of the investigation into this incident, our Gun Violence Reduction Unit will test the firearm and bullet casing to determine whether the gun has been used in any crimes,” the police said in a statement.
“Reducing gun violence in Albuquerque is our top priority.”
Jones’ team has yet to publicly comment on the arrest.
