UFC 247 Jones vs Reyes Full Fight Highlights

UFC 247 between Jon Jones and Dominick Reyes came and went on Saturday night.

Heading into the big main event, many thought Jones was the clear cut favorite.

Boasting a 21-1-0 record, with the one tie being a fluke, Jones entered the bout as arguably the greatest mixed martial artist of all time.

Reyes, in contrast, was a solid contender – but nowhere near the pedigree of Jones. His career mark of 12-0 was obviously very impressive at first sight, but the quality of Reyes’ victories were nowhere near the quality of Jones’.

There is a reason the fight is not decided on paper, though.

Reyes absolutely took it to Jones from start to finish, clearly winning the first two rounds of the bout and then arguably taking the third as well.

Unfortunately for the challenger, the judges saw Jones winning rounds three, four and five and as a result gave him the victory.

It is unclear at this point whether Reyes will get a rematch or if Jones will move up to heavyweight to fight Stipe Miocic, but he certainly more than proved himself as a worthy contender no Saturday night.

Where Reyes’ career goes from here is anyone’s guess.

Equally interesting in all this is the fact that Jones has been challenged more in his last two bouts than he has been at any point in his career.

Does that mean his first real loss is just around the corner? Time will tell.
