Dana White Triples UFC Freedom 250 Bonuses to Record $425,000 for Historic White House Card

Dana White is going big for the White House card. The UFC CEO announced Friday that Sunday’s UFC Freedom 250 event on the South Lawn will feature the largest fight night bonuses in promotion history, with $400,000 going to each Fight of the Night winner and $425,000 going to each Performance of the Night winner.

That is a tripling of the standard $100,000 bonus the UFC implemented earlier this year. It also surpasses the previous high of $300,000 awarded at UFC 300. The total bonus pool for the 14 fighters on the card sits at roughly $1.65 million.

The boost comes courtesy of a new partnership with World Liberty Financial, which is kicking in an additional $250,000 to the bonus pool, along with continued backing from Crypto.com.

The Event Itself

UFC Freedom 250 is one of the most unusual cards the promotion has ever put together. It is taking place on the South Lawn of the White House on Sunday. Combat sports at the actual White House. The optics, the politics, and the spectacle are all on the table.

White made the bonus announcement during a press conference at the Lincoln Memorial. He also confirmed that the show will go on regardless of any weather concerns. Nothing is canceling this card.

The main event pits Ilia Topuria against Justin Gaethje in what should be a violent striking match. The co-main is Alex Pereira against Ciryl Gane, which is potentially even more dangerous. Either of those fights could end with a head-kick knockout that becomes a defining moment for the bigger UFC story this year.

Why the Bonuses Make Sense

White has been criticized for years over fighter pay. The UFC has been profitable, growing, and worth billions, while the standard fight purses have lagged behind boxing’s biggest stars by a wide margin. Bonus pools are one of the levers the UFC has historically used to push extra money toward fighters who put on great performances without rewriting contracts across the board.

Tripling the bonuses for one major card is a smart play. It puts an extra incentive on the table for everyone fighting on the South Lawn. It also drives narrative engagement before the card. Fans want to know who is going for the bag.

The real-money incentive could change how some fighters approach Sunday night. Justin Gaethje is going to try to take Ilia Topuria’s head off no matter how much money is on the line. He is wired that way. But fighters lower on the card may now look for a finish where they would normally play it safe. That is good for everyone watching.

What This Says About the UFC’s Direction

The White House card was already going to be a watershed moment for combat sports. Adding a record bonus pool just hardens that. Crypto money is now openly involved in the UFC’s biggest moments. Political ties have never been deeper. And the standard for what counts as a UFC mega event keeps rising.

The 8:00 p.m. ET start on Paramount Plus puts the card in prime time on a Sunday night. The viewership will be massive. The atmosphere will be like nothing the UFC has ever produced. The money on the line just made it more must-see.

Topuria-Gaethje and Pereira-Gane on the same night, at the White House, with record bonuses on the line. Combat sports does not write better story lines than that.
