Tua Tagovailoa Returning To Alabama, It Appears

Tua Tagovailoa is returning to Alabama, it appears.

Coming into the 2019 college football season it seemed all but a foregone conclusion that Tagovailoa would enter the 2020 NFL Draft.

Unfortunately, a season-ending hip injury derailed those plans and threw Tagovailoa’s draft status in doubt.

It is still widely agreed-upon that he would go in the first round, but his status as a top-five pick is no longer secured.

As a result of the questions surrounding Tagovailoa’s NFL Draft status, many are now wondering if perhaps he will simply return to Alabama next season. That way he could answer all questions about his health and return to being a top-tier pick.

In a recent interview, former Alabama quarterback and current SEC Network analyst Greg McElroy suggested that this was a very legitimate possibility.

“I think it’s a real possibility,” he said.

“I really believe that’s what he’s going to do. I don’t know that for certain, I haven’t asked him specifically. I have talked to him and asked what factors are going to weigh into the decision. He said, ‘look, it’s all about medical.

“How quickly can I get out there and showcase my abilities for teams? If I can’t work out and showcase my abilities on the field, then it’s going to be really tough for teams to evaluate me.’

“I think it’s all about the timetable of his recovery. At this point, all signs point to him coming back.”

Will Tagovailoa really return for another campaign next season? It is definitely beginning to look that way.

  1. Title is misleading. This is just speculation by people on what he might do. Tua has not said or done anything that would indicate he is staying in college.
