Tom Brady had a message for Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes after beating him in the playoffs last year.
That message? Be patient and stay true to yourself.
Kansas City defeated the Tennessee Titans this past weekend in the AFC Championship Game.
The victory earned them a spot in Super Bowl LIV against the San Francisco 49ers.
Last year, the Chiefs also made a deep playoff run – but ended up falling short to the New England Patriots.
During a recent interview, Mahomes recounted what Brady told him following that outing.
“The biggest thing he said was, ‘Stay with the process and be who you are,’” Mahomes told Peter King.
“He didn’t want me to change at all. He wanted me to go out there and take advantage of every single day.
“When you hear it from a guy like that, who’s had the success at the level that he’s had for his entire career, you know you’ve got to take advantage of every single day if you want to be great.”
Brady has unquestionably been the best and most successful quarterback of his generation.
Now the mantle is being passed to Mahomes, who was the league’s MVP last season.
Despite battling some early-season injuries, the Chiefs quarterback has bounced back strong as the year progressed and is now in position to capture the very first championship of his professional career.
