Texas Interviewing Big Name Candidate For Coaching Job

Texas is interviewing a big name candidate for a coaching job.

Following the Longhorns’ disappointing 7-5 finish to the year, everyone involved realized that something needed to change. Tom Herman may be getting one more year, but someone needed to go.

Surely enough, just days after the Texas Tech game Herman opted to fire defensive coordinator Todd Orlando and offensive coordinator Tim Beck.

According to a new report from Anwar Richardson, recent Rutgers failure Chris Ash is apparently in the running for the defensive coordinator spot.

“Former Rutgers coach Chris Ash is currently in Austin interviewing for Texas’ vacant defensive coordinator position, according to my sources,” he tweeted.

“I’m told Tom Herman intends to interview at least three more candidates. Ash and Herman won a national championship together at Ohio State.”

Herman and Ash previously worked together on Urban Meyer’s championship-winning Ohio State team.
