Shareef O’Neal Transferring To LSU Or Memphis

Shareef O’Neal is transferring to LSU or Memphis, it appears.

O’Neal, the son of NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, originally committed to Arizona, but subsequently changed his mind and went to UCLA.

As a result of a heart condition, O’Neal was forced to take a medical redshirt during his freshman campaign.

O’Neal returned to the court this year, but only appeared in 13 outings for the Bruins.

He put up 2.2 points and 2.9 boards in 10 minutes of action per game.

O’Neal originally committed to UCLA when Steve Alford was the head coach. Alford was ultimately fired, and Mick Cronin was hired in his place.

According to college basketball insider Jack Pollon, O’Neal is considering LSU, Memphis and several other programs.

“Just had a quick word with former UCLA forward Shareef O’Neal: says he will check out LSU and Memphis, among others…. sounds like he is moving East regardless,” he wrote on Twitter.

A final decision on where O’Neal where ultimately transfer to is expected in the next few weeks.
