Saquon Barkley made a statement in his team’s season opener on Sunday.
After months of hearing about how he was washed up, injury-prone and would never reach the lofty expectations set for him coming out of Penn State, Barkley responded in a massive way.
The guy who has spent the past couple of seasons making more headlines for his party videos than substantive on-the-field accomplishments came out like a man possessed.
Not only did Barkley lead the New York Giants to a 21-20 victory over the Tennessee Titans this weekend, but he played an instrumental role in the final outcome.
Yes, he finished with 164 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries. But it’s not just that. The outing’s two most pivotal moments belonged to Barkley.
The first was his epic 68-yard third-quarter run that put New York in a position to win. Then he delivered the victory to his squad on a silver platter with a ballsy two-point conversion with just over a minute remaining.
One person who loved what she saw out of Barkley was his girlfriend, Anna Congdon.

Congdon has been a mainstay in Barkley’s corner, supporting him and lifting him up when many dismissed the 25-year-old as being done.
As sweet as Sunday was for Barkley himself, it must have been just as special for Congdon.

These days, she boasts nearly 90,000 followers on Instagram and is a huge fan favorite among Giants faithful.
Big picture, Congdon obviously isn’t the only partner to have gone viral on Sunday. Joe Burrow’s girlfriend, Olivia Holzmacher, also made quite the impression with her antics.
The difference is Congdon’s beau actually played well and won.
If this weekend’s happenings are a sign of things to come, this could be a massive year for both the Giants and Barkley.
Especially now that the Dallas Cowboys have clearly been relegated to the bottom of the NFC East.

And as Barkley goes, so does Congdon.
