Ref Gets Too Comfortable With Texas QB Sam Ehlinger (Video)

The No. 22 ranked Texas Longhorns took on the unranked West Virginia Mountaineers on Saturday afternoon. Because this was a battle between two 4-2 teams that likely won’t do much of note this year, nobody was expecting any major headlines to emerge from the outing. A referee decided to single-handedly change that.

With Texas up 10-7 and nine minutes remaining in the second quarter, the camera panned over to Longhorns quarterback Sam Ehlinger, who was being helped up by a ref. Totally normal, right? Not quite.

Fans couldn’t help but notice not only the repeated butt taps from the official, but also the weird way in which his hand seemed to linger. It was very peculiar.

Just another fun day of college football, nothing weird going on here.
