Redskins Hiring Ron Rivera As Next Head Coach?

Are the Redskins hiring Ron Rivera as the team’s next head coach?

The Carolina Panthers fired Rivera this past season in a clear bid to change the culture of the franchise.

Because Rivera was fired less so on merit and more because the Panthers simply wanted new direction, he has become something of a hot commodity.

It is widely accepted in NFL circles that Rivera will in fact be an NFL head coach next year – it is just a matter of where.

Rivera amassed a final record of 76-63-1 in nine years with the Panthers. In that time span he also made the playoffs on four separate occasions and the Super Bowl once.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapport, Washington is showing serious interest in bringing Rivera on board. Furthermore, Rapaport seems to believe that an NFL team may end up hiring Rivera within 24 hours of Sunday’s games.

A clearer picture of where Rivera will ultimately land should emerge following Week 17 action.
