Philip Rivers Joining Indianapolis Colts

Philip Rivers is joining the Indianapolis Colts, it would appear.

On Monday, Fox NFL insider Jay Glazer appeared on The Herd with Colin Cowherd.

During the interview, he suggested that the Los Angeles Chargers had officially closed the door on a potential reunion with Rivers.

As such, Rivers was now officially available for any NFL franchise that may want him.

Two teams that have been closely linked to Rivers in recent months are the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, for obvious reasons.

On Tuesday, Dan Patrick threw out an interesting third option that an NFL insider had tipped him off about: the Colts.

“I have an update on where I think Philip Rivers is going to end up.

“I just heard from a source who’s listening to the program. … The answer is – the Indianapolis Colts,” he continued.

“I got a text, ‘Hearing Philip Rivers to Indy.’ My response was ‘whoa,’” Patrick said.

In Patrick’s opinion, Rivers would not be a huge upgrade over existing Colts quarterback, Jacoby Brissett.

“If I bring in Philip Rivers, two-year deal – and Jacoby Brissett has a two-year deal – is Philip Rivers that much of an upgrade over Jacoby Brissett?” he wondered.

“I guess the outward appearance would be yes.”

A final decision on the Indy quarterback situation will be made at some point in the next few months.
