Paul Finebaum Has Surprising Take On Nick Saban, Alabama

Paul Finebaum has a surprising take on Nick Saban and Alabama.

Earlier this week, Saban raised some eyebrows when he come out and called his looming matchup against Auburn the toughest test Alabama has faced all year.

This surprised a lot of people given the fact that LSU systematically destroyed Alabama earlier this year in a game that was not as close as the final score would indicate.

In response to Saban’s comments, Finebaum attempted to add some clarity as the two the rationale behind them.

“He’s saying it because he’s Nick Saban and he wanted to throw something up in the air and get people talking, but he’s really talking to the committee,” Finebaum said.

“He’s trying to get them to think. He’s trying to get them to do some comparison shopping between Alabama and Utah. Because the conventional wisdom now is if Utah wins out, and wins the Pac-12 Championship Game, they are going to jump Alabama.”

If Utah wins out and wins the Pac-12 championship game, would their record actually be more impressive than Alabama’s?

Or would victories over Texas A&M and Auburn trump everything on Utah’s record aside from their presumed win over Oregon?

We’ll see what the committee thinks when it’s all said and done.
