Paul Finebaum Gets Brutally Honest About Utah And Playoff

Paul Finebaum gets brutally honest about Utah the Playoff during a recent ESPN appearance.

With Alabama’s loss to Auburn this past weekend, a path has been cleared for the top-ranked Pac-12 team to enter the College Football Playoff fray.

If Utah can knock off Oregon in the conference championship game this weekend, and if LSU beats Georgia, a lot of people think they will enter the postseason.

In a recent appearance on ESPN’s Get Up, Finebaum explained to the world why even if the scenario described above unfolds, Oklahoma will would get the Playoff nod over Utah.

“Oklahoma is getting in because let’s be honest, the country does not want to see Utah in the College Football Playoff,” Finebaum said on Get Up.

“I’m sorry. It’s Utah. … (Oklahoma) may not be any better. But they’re going to look a lot better.”

For what it is worth, Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham is not paying attention to any of that noise.

“We haven’t paid a whole lot of attention to it,” he said at his Monday press conference.

“We certainly understand the big picture, but control the controllables and all we can control is trying to get a win Friday against Oregon and then it’s out of our hands at that point.”

Can the Pac-12 finally earn itself a spot in the College Football Playoff this year?

We’ll find out for certain this weekend.
