The New England Patriots don’t want Cam Newton or Andy Dalton, it appears.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Panthers officially released Newton. The former league MVP is now free to sign wherever he wants.

Similarly, Dalton has been on the trade block ever since the Cincinnati Bengals got the number one overall selection in the 2020 NFL Draft.

With Tom Brady officially departing the New England Patriots this past week, a vacancy has opened up with Bill Belichick’s squad at starting quarterback.

Unfortunately for Newton and Dalton, it appears the Patriots are not interested in filling that void with either one of them.

Appearing on ESPN on Tuesday, Adam Schefter said he did not see a scenario where Newton or Dalton land in New England.

“I don’t think the Patriots are clamoring for either option right now,” he said.

“There’s nobody that the Patriots have identified that money is worth spending on,” Schefter added.

“Right now, they feel pretty comfortable with the quarterback position” with Brian Hoyer, Jarrett Stidham and Cody Kessler, he added.

Obviously anything can change, but for now it appears the Patriots are staying pat at quarterback.
