Oklahoma Benching Spencer Rattler After Tulane Game?

Oklahoma Benching Spencer Rattler After Tulane Game?

Spencer Rattler got off to something of a rough start on Saturday in Oklahoma’s season debut against Tulane.

On the second pass of the game, despite having a ton of time to make the read, Rattler inexplicably threw into coverage.

The worst part? Tulane was able to capitalize on the error, with Michael Pratt fliping it to Cameron Carroll for a score shortly thereafter.

Naturally, fans on social media had some reactions to what transpired:

People also began calling for him to be benched:

Rattler came into 2021-22 with a lot of hype, but it’s worth remembering that this isn’t the first time problems surrounding him have arisen. Maybe he’ll get it together and fix what has ailed him up to this point, but if he doesn’t, and soon, folks will likely stop giving him the benefit of the doubt in the way they have over the past year.

Meanwhile, Sooners head coach Lincoln Riley has been linked to one particular NFL job for years now. Should Rattler and the offense falter this year – it wouldn’t be all that shocking to see him seek out greener pastures come season’s end.
