Tom Brady Joining Chicago Bears In 2020?
Is Tom Brady joining the Chicago Bears in 2020?
Brady announced on Saturday that he is going to take a little more time to decide what he wanted to do next year.
Speculation has been running rampant that he plans on leaving the New England Patriots this summer.
The Patriots are fresh off a disappointing loss to the Tennessee Titans in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs.
“The contract things, a week after the season, I would say these things haven’t even started to pick up,” Brady said recently.
“It’s really not my concern at this point. It’s been about decompressing and resting my mind a little bit and resting my body and spending time with the people who have supported me over the last six months.”
If Brady does leave, most people believe he will end up out west with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Interestingly enough, this week a new potential candidate for his services emerged.
While appearing ESPN’s 1000 Kap And Company show recently, longtime Boston writer Dan Shaughnessy offered a fresh possible locale for Brady: Chicago.
“I think Tom would be agreeable to listening,” Shaughnessy told ESPN 1000’s Kap and Company.
“If the Patriots don’t take care of business then those situations are good. The TB12 brand, he’s the best advertiser if he wants this to be a global entity — if he can show that he can play NFL quarterback at 45.
“That’s the promotional aspect of spreading the brand. If I were him, I would’ve retired last year. The confetti was falling on my head. Just won another Super Bowl. You’re 41.
“It would’ve been the perfect time to walk off. That hasn’t happened. Doesn’t feel like it’s going to happen. Chicago’s as good as the Chargers or Dolphins. Maybe better.”
Will Brady ultimately head out to the Windy City? It is hard to see that realistically happening. Then again, the same statement could have been made about him leaving the Patriots altogether, and yet that appears to be precisely what he is on the verge of doing.
