Aaron Rodgers’ future was the biggest storyline in the NFL heading into the offseason.
Over the span of several weeks he vacillated between remaining with the Green Bay Packers, going to the Denver Broncos or retiring from pro football altogether.
On Tuesday, Rodgers made his decision.
After much thought and consideration, the reigning two-time league MVP decided to stay in Green Bay.
Naturally, in the aftermath, everyone couldn’t help but wonder what the main motivation behind the move was. According to Sports Illustrated – it all came down to relationships.
“The best analogy is that was me and Brett Favre shaking hands on stage at the NFL Honors,” Rodgers told Pat McAfee on his show. “I felt like, and Brett would probably say the same thing, it was kind of a catalyst to get Brett back in the fold. And that’s what that conversation was with Brian and I.”
“I feel like that was kind of a first step toward having real, free-flowing conversation and friendship, and I’m definitely thankful for the work that he put in on the relationship. I had to be more comfortable with those conversations, with being responsive to them in a super timely manner, trying to find kindness in adverse moments or difficult conversations that we had, and I feel like we all grew and had a good year of communication.”

Rodger is a fascinating guy on multiple levels. So it would make sense that his decision would ultimately be impacted by something like this.
With his professional life finally in a good place, Rodgers can now focus on his personal life – which is a bit of a mess.
Will he be able to get it together on that front? An answer should come in the next few weeks and months.
